Haaris' research focuses on improving the resilience of local communities to climate change and on modeling the distinct and difficult forms of uncertainty that rapid climate change poses to policy makers. His work in media economics has contributed to a worldwide movement for news publishers to be paid a fair share by tech platforms that use their content without adequate compensation, and has been part of multiple government testimonies. He holds a PhD in Economics from Columbia University.
